Frequently asked questions
Do you need to be fit in order to learn how to kitesurf?
Of course a basic level of fitness will help you in any sport, however there's no minimum level of fitness required to learn how to kitesurf! A lot of girls hesitate because they thing they need to be super strong and fit to kitesurf, which is absolutely not true! You actually don't need any specific muscles to kitesurf, it's more about learning how to conrol the kite and understanding how to increase and descrease its power.
Do I need any previous experience to learn to kitesurf?
Nope! Of course if helps if you have experience with wind powered sports (i.e. windsurfing) or board sports (i.e. skateboarding, snowboarding, wakeboarding), but it's absolutely not necessary. Most students come with no background at all which only means that we start from zero and give you all the knowledge you need to be safe and comfortable while learning - so you can have fun!
What do I need to bring to my lesson?
All the kitesurfing equipement you need is provided and included in every lesson.
How long does it take to learn kitesurfing?
We follow the IKO lesson structure (which you can read about in the "Kitesurfing Course" section. Of course everyone has a different level of fitness, experience and learning speed which we adapt to every lesson to ensure you are comfortable, safe and having fun at all times. On average it will take around 10 hours (5 lessons) for you be able to ride. (6-8 hours if you have experience with wind sports or board sports)
Do you have ladies only lessons?
Yes! Jessica is UAE's only female kitesurfing instructor. If you would like to book a female only lesson please reach out to us using the Contact Form or give us a call, email or WhatsApp.
Do you teach kids?
Yes! Kids can start learning at the age of 7 years old or once they reach 35 kg. We have a lot of experience in teaching kids and families.
When is it possible to have a kitesurfing lesson?
Let us know your availability and leave it up to us to check the forecast and let you know when the wind is suitable for a lesson. For learning kite control we need a minimum of 10 knots, after that we require 12 knots or more. As with any wind dependent sports, we do our best with the forecast, but keep in mind that the weather and forecast changes regularly so patience and flexibility when it comes to booking lessons is a must.
What if there isn't enough wind for a booked lesson?
We won't waste your time! If there is not enough wind for a lesson we will reschedule the lesson for the next windy day.
Should I buy equipment before or after my kitesurfing course?
We recommend that you purchase a kite and a board after your lessons, once you are riding both directions. You can discuss with your instructor regarding which gear will the best fit for you. A harness and wetsuit can be purchased after your first lesson.
After I finish the kitesurfing course and can ride on my own, what's next?
After you're able to ride both directions on your own, it's time to get some gear and practice on your own! Just becasue you don't need lessons anymore doesn't mean we are not there for you! Once you have your own gear you are welcome to come and ride anytime while we are at the beach riding or teaching other students. You can be at ease knowing we are there for you if something happens at the beach and we still offer you our full support. We will continue to give you tips and advice to improve your riding, and you are welcome to book an advanced lessons later on if you get stuck and need help riding upwind, learning transitions, learning how to jump, learning hydrofoil or learning how to ride strapless with a surf board.
